Our Friday morning began with an early and adventurous trip for several of us, while the rest got much needed sleep. Riding in the truck bed for most of the way, and hiking the rest of the distance, we delivered a new door to a man who lives in a small village on one of the mountains surrounding Labaleine. Definitely not the easiest feat, but the guys did an excellent job carrying it up the rugged, mountain path.
John Paul made a wonderful breakfast for us again, and I got to try my hand at making grenadia (passion fruit) juice! After the wonderful meal, we split up and went to complete the work we had for the day. Us girls did extensive loads of laundry and made food for dinner, while the guys finished attaching tin on the roof of the generator room and the gutters on the mission house.
We finished our priorities early in the afternoon, packed lots of food for dinner, and headed for the beach in two pickup trucks. The ocean was stunningly beautiful, and a very enjoyable refreshment after lots of hard sweaty work. Most of us enjoyed riding the waves, and several of us also spent some time beach combing. We spent the rest of the evening there, eating a wonderful dinner, simply relaxing, and watching God paint the sky in gorgeous sunset, laced with palms and waves. Leaving when it became dark, we had an awesome ride back under the stars in the truck bed. Arriving back at the mission we were tired, sandy, dusty, and salty, but happy. God had truly blessed us with a wonderfully productive morning, and a relaxing evening.
Each day God has given us here in Haiti, has been such a good growing experience, and has brought us closer together as a team. He has truly blessed us with a many wonderful opportunities to bless others and show Christ to them, each day. Each of you has also played a role in this trip by supporting us with prayer and so much encouragement!! Thank you!
Prayer Request: Ashlan was stung this evening on her hand by a bee. She was in a lot of pain but thankfully that has subsided. But her entire hand is very swollen now; twice the size of her other hand. Her arm is also somewhat affected by the sting, and it is all causing her a fair amount of discomfort. Please pray that it would heal as soon as possible and not cause her anymore pain.
