Day 7 and 8.
Aaannd we are back. In Port-au-Prince. We apologize for no update yesterday. The internet service here at Blue Ridge was being a little touchy last night. So I’ll back-track and start with yesterday.
The guys finished up some projects in the morning, we packed up, ate lunch, and hit the road. Bumpy, dirt road. Instead of taking a bus, like we did on the way to Labaliene, we piled onto two trucks. Which was great, because we were way way less crammed, and everybody enjoyed standing on the back. Some of the views we got to see were phenomenal, others were heartbreaking.
Insert Fun Story: So yesterday, for the first part of the drive in, I was sitting in the cab. The end. Fun, huh? Just kidding. We took a little pit stop, swapped seats, and I landed in the back. Not even five minutes into the drive andbug flies into my ear. It decided to hang out and make its home in my eardrum. Good times. After we got back to Blue Ridge, Philip and Melman poured hydrogen peroxide into my ear, swished it around a little, and boom, out pops a little, dried leaf. Not a bug, a leaf, in my ear. For 5 hours.
Leaf particles from my ear.
Back to travelling. We stopped at a tin market. The vendors were pretty pushy, so we tried to ski-daddle out of there fairly quickly. We stopped for a quick bite to eat, and they didn’t put bacon on some of our bacon cheeseburgers. First-world problems. It started to rain on the way back to Blue Ridge. Made for some great memories.
After breakfast, we hopped into the trucks and drove up the mountains to the Lower Lookout. It was super cool. We could see all of Port-au-Prince and then some. The Lower Lookout was where Phil proposed to Emily. Hence, the photo down below. We spent our day at God’s Littlest Angels today. We ate lunch there and then the rest of the afternoon we each got to pick a child and play with him on the balcony for the rest of the afternoon. All of us girls were in our glory. The guys did a pretty sweet job of playing with the kids too. Ice cream totally hit the spot on the way home. Dinner, and now I just finished up with the blog.
Our whole group. We have so much fun together.
Loving on some babies.
Pastel City. Look it up. CNN.com
And that’s what has been happening with us.
We have been enjoying our time so much, and we appreciate your prayers so much. Thank you!
